Blessed Mother Teresa
Listen to Mother Teresa's Daily Prayer. Read her life and works here.
Sept. 5, 2005 is the eighth year of her feast day.
"We can do no great things; only small things with great love."
The young Mother Teresa
"The dying, the cripple, the mental, the unwanted, the unloved they are Jesus in disguise."
The Missionary of Charity
"It is a poverty to decide that an unborn child must die so that you may live as you like."
Nobel Peace Prize Recepient
"I choose the poverty of our poor people. But I am grateful to receive (the Nobel Prize) in the name of the hungry, the naked, the homeless, of the crippled, of the blind, of the lepers, of all those people who feel unwanted, unloved, uncared-for throughout society, people that have become a burden to the society and are shunned by everyone." Also as soon as she learned about the plan for a dinner on her honor she politely asked for the dinner to be cancelled to save the money to feed the poor." -Accepting the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo 1979.
Cradling a child.
"I will tell you something beautiful. We are fighting abortion by adoption - by care of the mother and adoption for her baby. We have saved thousands of lives. We have sent word to the clinics, to the hospitals and police stations: "Please don't destroy the child; we will take the child." So we always have someone tell the mothers in trouble: "Come, we will take care of you, we will get a home for your child." -The National Prayer Breakfast, Washington, DC, February 5, 1994
Mother Teresa's work with the order she founded, the Missionaries of Charity, is recognised by the Vatican. Here, she kisses a statuette of Jesus after being awarded the first Pope John XXIII Peace Prize by Pope Paul VI in 1971.
With Pope John Paul II
"Mother Teresa marked the history of our century with courage. She served all human beings by promoting their dignity and respect, and made those who had been defeated by life feel the tenderness of God.'' - Pope John Paul II
With Cardinal Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI.
"But I do think that in the case of Mother Teresa, the normal procedure can go forward in a very expedient manner. It will not be a very long process for Mother Teresa, given her life was so magnificent." - Cardinal Ratzinger on the canonization of Mother Teresa
Always with the Rosary.
"The Blessed Mother is all over the world bringing people to Her Son. Whenever I need a special favor, I do an Express Novena. An Express Novena is 9 Memorares in a row." -conversation with Father Andrew Apostoli
Official portrait of Mother Teresa during her beatification.
"You and I, we are the Church, no? We have to share with our people. Suffering today is because people are hoarding, not giving, not sharing. Jesus made it very clear. Whatever you do to the least of my brethren, you do it to me. Give a glass of water, you give it to me. Receive a little child, you receive me. Clear."

I enjoyed this very much. I love the way Mother Teresa made herself God's tool for this world.
She is my favorite to follow and I get great inspiration from her story.
This is wonderful, and I enjoyed the pictures very much, some that I have not seen before.
She inspires me very much too! How great was her work that was only possible because she was humble and was willing to be God's instrument. Thanks for sharing in her memory today!
Hi Mariette. Thank you for your kind words and for visiting. I'm sorry that the photo of Pope Paul VI ruined the post for you. I was simply illustrating Mother Teresa's love for the Church being that she served the Church for more than three pontificates. The image of her kissing the Crucifix tells us so much about her humility and obedience to the will of God.
I'm grateful for your candor and I hope you come visit again. May God bless you always!
Correction: it's a statue of Jesus she's kissing! :)
