Finally, The Saturno!
JMJ+D
I have been waiting for the Holy Father to don the traditional Saturno which Popes John Paul II and John XIII wore during their papacy. Finally, he continues the tradition. Here he is seen wearing it for the first time during today's Wednesday Audience. For more about the saturno hat, click here.
Here is the official papal itinerary for the Pope's visit to his homeland in Bavaria.
From Associate Press:
Pope Benedict XVI wears a 'saturno hat', inspired by the ringed planet Saturn, to shield himself from the sun as he waves to the crowd of faithful prior to his weekly general audience in St. Peter's Square at the Vatican, Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006. Pope Benedict XVI prayed to the Virgin Mary on Wednesday, wishing for a renewed season of faith and progress for the German people as he prepares to travel to his native country. The pope leaves Sept. 9 for a 5-day trip which will take him back to his native Bavaria, including stops in Munich and the village of Marktl am Inn, where he was born. (AP Photo/Pier Paolo Cito)
