Papal Fashion
Yes, the Pope wears Prada!
The Pope wears a red silk "mozzetta" or waist-length robe, over a white cassock.
The traditional vestments of the Holy Father is the white or "ivory" cassock, a moire silk sash, as well as the pectoral cross, fisherman's ring, the white silk "zucchetto" or skullcap and on special occasions, the mitre.

This one was a gift from Pope Paul VI, worn during his first Mass as Pope Benedict XVI.

The one comment I get from everyone about the picture is to do with the shoes. Personally, I think the fact that the Holy Father stood right in front of me and smiled is the coolest bit. He's just so darn amazing! :-)
Keep him in your prayers!!!
Hello dilexitprior! Wow, that photo in your blog is fantastic. That was a close up shot of Papa Bene so you must have been inches away from him! And how wonderful that his red shoes were peeking from under his cassock just when you snapped away! Congratulations -that photo is for keeps! By the way, the man beside him is not Msgr Ganswein.
Rest assured SPH is here to keep him closely in prayer.
Thanks for dropping by! God bless you.
