60th Anniversary of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Dymphna's Well reminds us that today is the 60th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

I remember when, during my childhood, my family went to Japan for vacation and had the opportunity to see the photos of the terrible bombing. One could not help but utter in one's heart, the words "Lord, never again!".

At the suggestion of Dymphna's Well, I would like to post the prayer of St. Gertrude the Great for the souls who died and those who survived.

Prayer of St. Gertrude the Great

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the Universal Church, Those in my own home and within my family. Amen.

(Our Lord told St. Gertrude the Great that this prayer would release 1,000 souls from Purgatory each time it is said. The prayer was later extended to include living sinners as well. The Approval and Recommendation does NOT include this extension). APPROVAL AND RECOMMENDATION (sqd.) M. Cardinal Pahiarca at Lisbon, Portugal, on March 4, 1936
